-+   I’m confused, what types of Latex are available?

·        There are only two methods of latex manufacture. Latex is either made using the original Dunlop continuous process (invented in the 1920’s) or the more advanced Talalay method (developed in the 1960’s).

-+  What is so good about Talalay latex?

·        Latex is naturally conforming, so you are assured optimal orthopaedic support in any sleep position. This unique ability to conform to your body alleviates areas of high pressure that cause you to toss and turn at night.

·        Latex is also hypoallergenic, anti-microbial & dust-mite resistant

·        Talalay Latex due to its unique open cell structure is fully breathable (air can pass from cell to cell). This unique feature removes body moisture creating a healthy sleeping environment. It also keeps you warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer

-+  Does Talalay use 100% natural Rubber?

·        Yes! Talalay Latex typically uses a combination of Latex rubber and synthetic material which achieves the wonderful properties of Talalay

-+  What is Talalay Latex?

·        The Talalay method of manufacture produces the finest latex available.

o        The Talalay process step are:

Liquid rubber and compound is whipped into foam & poured into a mould.

  1. When closed the mould has rods that go through the foamed rubber(This creates the pin core construction)
  2. A vacuum is placed on the mould which creates a perfectly even mixture of latex & air bubbles.
  3. The material is then frozen to -30 degrees centigrade. It is this process that creates the open / interconnecting cell structure of Talalay.
  4. Carbon Dioxide and air is then pumped through the mould before Heat of 115 degrees centigrade is sent through the rods into the core. This process provides an even temperature to all parts of the core. This yields a perfectly consistent latex core, one without soft or hard spots.
  5. The cores are then thoroughly washed. A process whereby clean water is passed from the top of the core, through the open cell structure and then out the bottom of the core. Only Talalay cores can be thoroughly washed in this way.
  6. The cores are then slowly dried over a period of 8 hours at a temperature of 85 degrees centigrade
  7. The cores are then checked that they conform to the high quality expected of a Talalay product.

-+  What is STANDARD NATURAL Latex?

·        Latex uses the continuous Dunlop process. This latex does not have the consistent or supple characteristics of Talalay. It is not made in a vacuum, and does not require the extensive processing steps of Talalay. It therefore can be produced much cheaper and does not possess the open cell structure of Talalay. Latex produced by this process can use fillers such as clay or silica. It may use rubber or synthetic material.

-+  I heard about latex allergies, could this hurt me?
The problems you have heard of are related to medical latex products. The key culprit is a protein in natural latex that is not present in properly produced latex. Talalay Latex is thoroughly washed during manufacture, therefore does not contain any of these proteins that may cause allergic reactions.

-+  Why is it more expensive?

·        It is expensive because Talalay cores use pure latex rubber & synthetic Latex which are manufactured using the Talalay process creating best latex foam bedding available.

·        Latex rubber is very unlike polyurethane, which is a plastic and much cheaper and lighter than latex foam. Because this product lasts longer than an innerspring mattress, it really isn't more expensive in the long run. It's actually cheaper.

-+  What kind of foundation should I put my Latex mattress on?
  • When purchasing a Latex Ensemble it comes with an upholstered matching base.  Otherwise it is suitable for use on a bed having a top quality fixed slat base or an adjustable posture Slats base.
